My Brother’s Dating Game

My brother is a charmer. Every week he takes a different girl out on a date. Every week I would be receiving phone calls in the house from the girls he was dating, ranging from irate to obsessed to pathetic. Sometimes the doorbell would ring and there would be some girl returning his sweatshirt angrily asking me to tell my brother to go to hell, or sweetly hoping that he was home.

Everything has been driving me and my parents so crazy that they installed a different phone line for him and instructed him to never bring a girl in the house unless he is sure that he will marry her, as we’ve had enough of his dating game routines. We had some peace for several months. The fact that my brother is now taking a lot of business trips prevented him from doing his usual “is it cold… here you can use my sweatshirt” moves that every girl is a sucker for.

So you could just imagine our surprise when one day he called ahead to say that he will be bringing someone over for dinner. I was expecting one of his officemates but he usually does not call before. My mom thinks it is a girl – after all she thinks that it is about time my brother settles down. She was right of course.

Dating game draws to a close

My brother brought home an officemate of his whom I noted was wearing my brother’s sweatshirt on her shoulders. They have been dating for three months now – which probably explains the sudden peace and quiet in our house and he has asked for her hand. This news took us all by surprise but we recovered quickly. We found out that she was very polite and likable. In fact we became fast friends after that night.

So when the big day came, I was busy looking for a wedding present for my brother. What do you give someone who has almost everything? That’s when I saw the perfect wedding sweatshirt. It was black and there’s a print of a married couple with the words “game over” printed below the bride and groom. Truly the game is over for my brother who had played the dating game well. I bet he will love this new addition to his sweatshirt collection.
